Okay, Williamson County wanna-be-residents, after reading about Franklin in last week’s post, are you ready to buy a home in the 37064? Not so fast friends, because this beautiful county of mine has more going for it than its county seat. For starters, there’s Brentwood, a gorgeous community that offers the ideal balance between an easy urban commute and a slower-pace, bucolic lifestyle. If you don’t know Brentwood, you should, allow me to make the introductions.
One of the most common words you’ll hear applied to this suburb of Nashville is “affluent.” And, yes, it’s true that with a median income of over $125,000 per year, this community within Williamson County is one of the country’s, not just the county’s, most affluent cities. It is also true that many neighborhoods boast homes in the million dollar plus range, including Governor’s Club, Hampton Reserve and Princeton Hills. The price tags include incredible amenities and access to shared community spaces. Governor’s Club boasts an Arnold Palmer signature golf course. If you’re looking to purchase a luxury home with limitless conveniences, you can’t go wrong in Brentwood.
Even if you’re shopping for a home on a budget, though, there are many, many beautiful neighborhoods that offer affordable, well-maintained homes. Somerset, a quaint neighborhood located close to some of Brentwood’s most desirable schools, offers homes from 2,500 to 3,500 square feet. Wildwood is considered a “vintage” neighborhood as building began here in the late 1960’s, but it is still a favorite of young couples and growing families. And then there’s Brenthaven, one of Brentwood’s largest neighborhoods with over 800 homes, ranging in price from about $300,000 to $900,000. Not only does it offer a ton of great choices, but it boasts a prime location, situated just minutes from the 1-65 interchange and a quick 15 minute commute to downtown Nashville.
Brentwood is also renowned as having some of the county’s very best schools, and that’s saying something in a county known for its strong public school system. Almost three-quarters of Brentwood High School students enroll in advanced placement classes. The school also claims the title of top “College Readiness” scores in the county. Several award winning middle schools feed BHS, while even more elementary schools draw scores of families from around the country. In fact, many of my Brentwood buying clients chose to move here because the school offerings are so strong in this community.
If you love the great outdoors, then Brentwood is definitely the place for you. With ten magnificent parks to choose from, you’ll never lack the opportunity for an outdoor adventure. Crockett Park is the town’s largest with over 170 acres. It features seven lit tennis courts, restroom/concessions buildings, eight lit ball fields, 11 multi-purpose fields, bikeway/jogging trails, a frisbee golf course, two historic homes, a community playground, picnic shelters, and the Eddy Arnold amphitheater.
Recently, Crockett Park has added an indoor arena used for soccer, lacrosse, and flag football. It also serves as the home for Brentwood’s yearly Fourth of July fireworks celebration. If you like to get your sweat on, head over to Maryland Way Park. It features a paved walking/running path with over 20 exercise stations on 7 acres.
Perhaps the cerebral pursuits are more your cup of tea? Then, you’ll be absolutely delighted with Brentwood Library and its incredible catalog of books. The library also offers e-reading programs and downloadable apps. You can rent artwork from the library for 90 days at a time and as a resident of Brentwood, you’ll have access to the library’s extensive programming for adults, teens and young children. I have friends that live in other Williamson County communities who are green with envy over the offerings at this amazing library.
Last, but not least, Brentwood has grown leaps and bounds since its incorporation in 1969 and the completion of the 1-65 interchange the same year. In addition to providing that easy-peasy commute to Metro-Nashville, Brentwood enjoys its own vibrant business district in Maryland Farms. With over five million square feet of office space, this district has enticed many major companies to move their national headquarters to Brentwood. Tractor Supply Company, Comdata and AT&T are some of the community’s leading employers and all operate out of lovely Maryland Farms.
