East Nashville's Fall Openings Start Where the Farmers Market Leaves Off

October 29, 2026

Starting November 3, the East Nashville Farmers Market's Tuesday hours end at 6 p.m. instead of 6:30. The three places that opened nearby since August keep going well past that. Veselka's kitchen inside Lakeside Lounge, Girlcrush Social House and Bar Cala Cala each do most of their business in the evening, and together they cover the hours from the market's close to 2 a.m. most nights of the week.

The useful part is knowing which of the three is open on which night and how each one works when you walk in.

Six O'Clock at 511 Woodland

The market runs every Tuesday at 511 Woodland Street through December 22, 3:30 to 6 p.m. for the rest of the season. After November 3, that leaves seven more Tuesdays: November 10, 17 and 24, then December 1, 8, 15 and 22. Thanksgiving week's market on the 24th falls inside the regular schedule. According to the market's contact page, a volunteer or organizer staffs the information booth during market hours.

Going east on Woodland, the next two stops are 921 and 1112. The third, Bar Cala Cala, sits a short way north at 930 McFerrin Avenue in McFerrin Park. The catch on market night is the schedule. Bar Cala Cala is closed Monday and Tuesday, so the Tuesday evening after the market belongs to Woodland Street.

Tuesday Night at 1112 Woodland

Girlcrush Social House opened in August in the former Van Gogh's Wine Bar space, which What Now Nashville reported had closed earlier in 2026. The Nashville Scene's opening coverage describes it as a "womxn-forward queer space" owned and operated by Emily Dryburgh and Sumedha Sagar, with Jamie Dryburgh collaborating. It grew out of eight years of RNBW Queer Music Collective showcases and the Girlcrush dance parties that came before the building.

The Tuesday timing lines up neatly. Girlcrush's events calendar lists RNBW every first and third Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m., starting at the minute the market closes. On that schedule, showcases fall on November 3 and 17 and on December 1 and 15.

Inside, the room is set up for conversation and live music. The Scene describes round tables built to be moved and pushed together, art the owners made themselves, two stages, and a wall of signed photos of queer Nashville musicians, including Brittany Howard and Brandy Clark, that is meant to grow until it covers the space. Besides RNBW, planned programming includes dance parties, trivia nights and album release shows.

Food is "bar basics" for now. The owners told the Scene they would eventually like to add fitness classes, a coffee shop and a fuller dinner menu. Hours at opening were 2 p.m. to midnight Tuesday through Friday and 11 a.m. to midnight on weekends.

That leaves dinner on market night to the bar down the street.

The Pierogi Kitchen at 921 Woodland

Lakeside Lounge opened in 2019 in the former Edgefield Sports Bar & Grill space. It's a casual sports-and-games bar with pool, darts, shuffleboard and arcade games, as Eater Nashville described it at opening. In August it also became home to Veselka's first kitchen outside New York City.

Veselka has operated in New York since 1954. The Scene reports that the founder's grandson runs it now and that it was a James Beard Award semifinalist in 2023. According to the Nashville Scene's report on the opening, the deal came together because the two businesses share people on their leadership teams. Veselka COO Justin Birchard calls pierogi "salt of the earth" food and suggests treating the Lakeside version like a boneless chicken wing, meaning good bar food.

The Nashville menu has pierogi in orders of six, with four fillings:

  • Potato and cheese
  • Braised beef
  • Chicken and vegetable
  • Arugula and goat cheese

Borscht and other soups, latkes, kielbasa, a chicken schnitzel sandwich and a Veselka Reuben fill out the menu. The Scene also mentions Veselka's signature dipping sauces, including a borscht barbecue sauce created for the bar.

The hours are what make it the backbone of the corridor. Lakeside's own site lists the kitchen at 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. daily, the bar until 3 a.m., and all ages admitted until 5 p.m. Under that all-ages cutoff, anyone under 21 can come in before 5 p.m. and not after. Veselka's location page also lists takeout and delivery for the Nashville kitchen.

So it's the one kitchen in this stretch open every night, Monday included. Bar Cala Cala picks up the rest of the week with a very different style of service.

Wednesday Through Sunday on McFerrin Avenue

Bar Cala Cala opened at the end of September at 930 McFerrin Avenue. The Nashville Scene reports it is the first collaboration between chefs Ryan Costanza of Present Tense in Wedgewood-Houston and Joshua Walker. Walker moved from Charleston in 2022 and opened Xiao Bao in McFerrin Park with his wife, Duolan Li. Neighbors know Xiao Bao by its giant fiberglass strawberry. Bar Cala Cala has a red neon sign and a giant clamshell out front, which the Scene calls a cousin of the strawberry.

The night runs in three parts, according to the restaurant's site:

  1. Snacks, 4 to 5 p.m. Spritzes and small plates at the bar.
  2. Dinner, 5 to 9 p.m. Italian coastal cooking in the bar and dining room, including Sicilian crudo, lemon-risotto arancini, and swordfish Milanese with olive salsa verde and preserved lemon.
  3. Bar and disco after 9 p.m. Negronis, natural wine and records played through four vintage Klipschorn speakers.

The Scene says the music runs from Ethiopian jazz and Italian disco to "summer rock hits of the '90s, and early 2000s female pop hits," in a room of plaster walls, marble and draperies that the chefs designed themselves. The Infatuation's October review suggests arriving around 7 p.m. for dinner or after 10 p.m. for dancing.

Your seat depends on how you plan. OpenTable takes reservations for indoor tables only, as 90-minute bookings. Patio and bar seats are first-come, first-served. The bar stays open until midnight Wednesday, Thursday and Sunday, and until 2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Walker and Costanza have also told the Scene they plan to open an upstairs space by the end of the year, without saying what it will be.

The Week on One Page

Here's how the corridor's evenings break down by night, based on each business's posted hours.

  • Monday. Veselka at Lakeside is the only one of the three open, with the kitchen running until 2 a.m.
  • Tuesday. The market runs 3:30 to 6 p.m. at 511 Woodland. Girlcrush is open until midnight, with RNBW from 6 to 9 p.m. on first and third Tuesdays. Veselka serves until 2 a.m. Bar Cala Cala is closed.
  • Wednesday and Thursday. All three are open. Bar Cala Cala serves dinner until 9 and stays open until midnight, Girlcrush closes at midnight, and Veselka keeps cooking until 2 a.m.
  • Friday and Saturday. The latest nights on the corridor. Bar Cala Cala and the Veselka kitchen both run until 2 a.m., and Lakeside's bar stays open until 3 a.m.
  • Sunday. Girlcrush opens at 11 a.m., Bar Cala Cala starts snacks at 4, and both close at midnight. Veselka runs until 2 a.m.

That's a lot of change for one fall. Two months ago, none of these three was open.
