National Grilled Cheese Day – Sandwich Pro Tips
The key to making a crowd-pleasing grilled cheese sandwich is starting with a good bread like sour dough says Michelle. “My girls and I love watching The Pioneer Woman, Ree Drummond and click here for some of her favorite bread recipes.”
Variety makes this American favorite more fun. Michelle says grab your favorite toppings like bacon, green apples, grilled or sautéed onions, fried egg, grilled chicken, ham, turkey or your favorite spread like mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, pesto or a preserve.
Her best sandwiches come from using a griddle for cooking evenly. Although Michelle doesn’t use a panini press, all are good choices. Michelle is from the school of only flipping the sandwich once ensuring the bread doesn’t get too tough; and she likes it to be golden brown with crispy edges and cheese evenly melted.
Slice across or down the middle is diner’s choice says Michelle who is a down the middle fan. No matter how you cut it, Michelle and her daughters love this year-around with a nice bowl of soup or fresh fruit!
