Tips On Where You Should Invest In Outdoor Living

Learn about flowers, mulch, porches, and more for a cozy outdoor experience.
July 12, 2018
Investing in outdoor living has been a favorite way for homeowners to add to home living space. The experts of the LCT Team – Parks share where to put your dollars and items to avoid when expanding your porch or yard features.

Invest In Outdoor Living

#1 Flowers and Mulch

Landscaping doesn’t have to be expensive! Check out your local garden center and grab some inexpensive but gorgeous flowers along with some mulch to help them grow. A great way to save some money on flowers is to pick out perennials. You won’t have to replant your garden or flower beds every year with perennials. You’ll simply have to keep up the maintenance.

#2 Covered porch

Covered porches can add extra living space to your home and are perfect for entertaining on summer nights. Screen porches are another option, but they make your home darker whereas a covered porch still lets the light in. Consider getting a regular bug spraying around your home for more enjoyable, less buggy entertaining on your porch.

#3 Retractable Screens

Retractable screens are another great option for outdoor living and an alternative to the screen porch. They give you the versatility of opening the space for backyard entertaining or closing for privacy or shade.

#4 Fire Pit Versus Fireplace

This beautiful patio area is perfect for entertaining.

Outdoor fire pits and fireplaces are fun for nights of telling campfire stories. While fire pits are better for roasting marshmallows, fireplaces are nicer because they direct the smoke away from you so you aren’t rushing for a shower at the end of the evening.

#5 Porch Swing

Our favorite outdoor living addition is the porch swing. They are a great way to relax while enjoying the summer heat in the shade. A swing offers extra seating for entertaining on a summer night or for an afternoon of reading. With a great variety of styles and color, swings are by far our favorite outdoor feature!

Offering extra seating or a way to enjoy the breeze on a warm afternoon, porch swings like this one are just the best!
