Like many of you, I’m sure, I start counting my blessings this time of year. Always at the top of my list are my clients, men and women who trust me to usher them through a sale or purchase of a home. Sometimes these homes are luxury homes built to house a growing family. Sometimes I’m helping a return client downsize. Still others ask me to help them buy a starter home. I’m privileged to witness and be a small part of a joyful time in most people’s lives, when they are often exceedingly aware of their own blessings. Particularly in our affluent area, I’m always mindful of expressing gratitude for our abundance, but I think it is equally important to realize that there are many families, individuals and children who aren’t blessed with the security of a stable home or a consistent paycheck. For that reason, I support several charities and invite you to join me in assisting these fine organizations.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) is an organization that recruits, trains and supports volunteers to represent the best interests of abused and neglected children in the courtroom and other settings. CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and advocate for abused and neglected children, to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service system or languish ininappropriate group or foster homes.Volunteers stay with each case until it is closed and the child is placed in a safe, permanent home. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer will be the one constant adult presence in their lives.
This year, Bob Parks Realty, LLC’s Brentwood/Cool Springs office partnered with Williamson County CASA to host a CASA Giving Tree. Each ornament on our tree represented a child or family currently being served by WCCASA. My colleagues and I shopped for these children and families to ensure that each and every one of them would have a joyful holiday season. It’s been a year-end highlight, to be sure.
Although we have already delivered our gifts to CASA, you can still help this worthy organization by visiting their website and making a donation. Every dollar helps give these children the voice they deserve. Even if you’re not able to give at this time, click here to read a heart-warming story about the impact that CASA has had on the life of one sweet girl living right here in Williamson County. Then, go and spread this word about this great organization. Together, we can change these little lives for the better.
