National Trends for 2023
Before we dig into our must-have list, it is interesting to see national trend predictions. While we work with home sellers on neutralizing spaces so potential home owners can visualize their future, it seems color, color and more color is on deck for 2023.
The national paint companies have made their selections and here’s a roundup of colors of the year.

The need for a private, home office remains a must-have feature of 2023 with doors, great light and storage all important. Locating an office by the home’s main entrance helps isolate a work space from the main living spaces. Meredith says flexible space can also be a good alternative. “If a bedroom can also serve as an office area, flexibility is great to have,” Meredith says.

When a kitchen trend translates into something with great long-term use, it’s a trend we are here for. REALTOR® Maile Stover says the design of two islands in the kitchen is something she loves for 2023.
“Having two islands is smart design. One can function as space for preparing food. The second island can be used as a kitchen table and lower storage is great,” she said.

Smart Storage, Spacious Closets
The days of limited closets are over in smart home design. The team loves seeing well-organized storage throughout a home including walk-in closets in the primary and secondary bedrooms.
Smart storage options can also include hidden pantries or rooms off of kitchens for preparing and storing appliances and household goods. Maile says if the budget allows, smart storage always elevates a kitchen from large pantries to refrigerator drawers.
